{"id":59088,"date":"2021-07-17T11:09:07","date_gmt":"2021-07-17T11:09:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insideracing.com\/wordpress_X\/index.php\/2021\/07\/17\/flying-rovanpera-on-a-charge-as-breen-loses-ground\/"},"modified":"2021-07-17T11:09:07","modified_gmt":"2021-07-17T11:09:07","slug":"flying-rovanpera-on-a-charge-as-breen-loses-ground","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/insideracing.com\/flying-rovanpera-on-a-charge-as-breen-loses-ground\/","title":{"rendered":"Flying Rovanpera on a charge as Breen loses ground"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Rally Estonia leader Kalle Rovanpera created breathing space between himself and Craig Breen after a stunning Saturday morning carried the Finn more than half a minute clear.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The 20-year-old restarted this seventh round of the World Rally Championship with an 8.5sec advantage over the Irishman after Friday\u2019s opening leg and stretched that to 35.7sec after four gravel tests near Tartu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Rovanpera made a sensational start in his Toyota Yaris, winning the opening Peipsi\u00e4\u00e4re speed test and distancing third-fastest Breen by 14.3sec.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Second fastest in Mustvee and Raanitsa widened the margin further before Breen regained a few tenths in the morning\u2019s final Vastsem\u00f5isa test, as Rovanper\u00e4 indicated the time had come for a more measured approach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Breen was far from disheartened on only his third outing of the season in a Hyundai i20. Neuville was desperate to protect his slender overnight advantage and traded times across the morning before returning to mid-leg service in Tartu with a 4.5sec lead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Ogier was cautious through the new stages north of Tartu but his pace was sufficient to widen the gap to Yaris team-mate Elfyn Evans to 23.2sec.
