{"id":59212,"date":"2021-07-23T18:12:54","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T18:12:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/insideracing.com\/wordpress_X\/index.php\/2021\/07\/23\/rea-vs-gerloff-kawasaki-take-top-honours-as-day-1-at-assen-turns-fierce\/"},"modified":"2021-07-23T18:12:54","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T18:12:54","slug":"rea-vs-gerloff-kawasaki-take-top-honours-as-day-1-at-assen-turns-fierce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/insideracing.com\/rea-vs-gerloff-kawasaki-take-top-honours-as-day-1-at-assen-turns-fierce\/","title":{"rendered":"Rea vs Gerloff: Kawasaki take top honours as Day 1 at Assen turns fierce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>The 2021 WorldSBK Championship is well underway, and it was close in the&nbsp;WorldSBK&nbsp;class at the TT Circuit Assen for round five of the Championship during the Dutch Round.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Some 13 riders were covered by less than a second, with Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team&nbsp;WorldSBK) leading the way on combined times ahead of Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha&nbsp;WorldSBK&nbsp;Team), whilst Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing \u2013 Ducati) was third, having led the way in FP1. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It was a strong day for parity across the manufacturers, with all five brands inside the top five places come the chequered flag.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">It was a solid first day for Jonathan Rea, as the Ulsterman enjoyed a strong afternoon session after finishing second in the morning.
